This talk is focusing on three Korean artists, Beom Kim, Seoyoung Chung and Yiso Bahc and their works produced from the late 1990s to the early 2000s. Three artists and their experiences with Korean society and culture witnessed the pivotal shift in Korean contemporary art during the turn of the century. Each has developed a strong allegorical language that lucidly records the profound changes that occurred during this period in Seoul. This event is collaborated with Tina Kim Gallery in New York and the exhibition, Two Hours: Three Artists from Seoul, Bahc Yiso, Kim Beom and Chung Seoyoung.

뉴욕대서 90년대 이후 한국 현대미술을 논한다

• 뉴욕대학교 동아시아학과(NYU East Asian Studies)가 한국의 현대미술에 대한 이해를 돕는 강연회와 전시회를 마련한다.
  동아시아학과 이용우 교수에 따르면, 뉴욕 티나킴 갤러리(TINA KIM Gallery)에서는 9월22일부터 10월22일까지 한 달에 걸쳐 ‘Tow Hours’란 주제로 90년대 한국의 개념 및 설치미술을 대표하는 박이소, 정서영, 김범 작가의 작품을 선보인다. 그림, 조각, 비디오 등 다양한 장르의 작품을 통해 한국 현대미술의 시선과 관점들을 엿본다.
  특히, 9월23일 오후 4시부터 뉴욕대(19 University Place, The Great Room, First Floor)에서 열리는 특별 이벤트에는 정서영 작가와의 토크도 마련된다. 정서영 작가와 김현진 큐레이터는 ‘1990년대 한국 미술의 동시대성 혹은 그 증후들(The very Symptom or Contemporaneity of Korean Contemporary Art in the 1990s)’이란 주제로 강연을 진행할 예정이다.
