Gallery EM presents “Cuddle,” a solo exhibition of new work by Nakhee Sung. The artist is known for her emotionally-charged impromptu painting technique of layering basic painterly elements such as lines, points, and planes into dazzling visual effect. Sung’s recent series of work, entitled “Polyphonic,” is a continuation of her abstract, expressive style with roots in Surrealist automatism. An aggregation of oil-painted layers fuse the imaginary scenery of Sung’s inner self with her stream of personal consciousness. Chaotic images brim with charged energy. Juxtaposed against the structured systematic order of composition and form, the results are simultaneously seductive, dynamic and harmonious.
